Matt Eagles

Hockey is a way of life for Matt Eagles. Matt’s father, Mike Eagles ( a native of Sussex ), is a former NHLer who played in the National Hockey League for 15 years. Matt has lived all over the map including Chicago, Indianapolis, Winnipeg, and Washington. His family always returned to Fredericton in the summer.

Matt was thrilled to make the Moncton Wildcats and loves the city of Moncton. He says the fan support can be seen all over the city.

He absolutely loves his billets. From home he does miss his family, especially hockey talks with his dad. Matt has a younger brother, Chris, who is currently playing his second year bantam. Matt hopes to see his brother in the Q someday.

As with most players, Matt has some of his own pre-game rituals including dressing his right side before the left.

“Eags” as he’s called also enjoys playing the guitar which has been a hobby of his for 10 years.

His favorite NHL team would have to be the Montreal Canadians and favorite NHLers are Martin St.Louis , Steve Sullivan, and of course Mike Eagles!

Matt would like to pursue a career in medicine or law if hockey is not in his future.
